Cordoba

Córdoba, May 2017

To avoid too many rentals, packing and unpacking, we chose Córdoba to be our day trip on the way from Seville to Malaga.

As soon as we walked into the walls of the old town, we realized it was time of Patio Festival. Above is a line of tourists waiting to enter one of the patios.

There were detour options to avoid the crowds and still enjoy Cordoba’s historic architecture and charming atmosphere.

The Triumphal Arch and Plague Monument

Cordoba’s rich history has left many sites to explore for today’s visitors. A lot of it is a combination of Roman and Islamic rule.

It was a Saturday and dressed up groups of people were heading to the cathedral for a wedding.

Cordoba has the highest summer temperatures in Spain and Europe so even on this mid May day ice cream and a hat was a must.

Here are some pictures of patios. Just beautiful.

Below are pictures of the outside and inside of the Mezuita, former mosque. It is the major attraction of Cordoba.

Tortilla de Papatas (Spanish omelet) from my eat in Spain list. Much needed lunch break after exploring the city and the mosque. Breakfast all day 🙂

The Roman Bridge across the Guadalquivir River is located just outside of the old city and is a must see. We missed out on seeing the bridge during night time but well, another reason to come back one day ;). We still had a two hour drive to Malaga.
