Malaga, Mijas, and Ronda
We arrived to Malaga on Saturday late afternoon and it took us awhile to find an open grocery store. Right after checking-in with our host, we headed to the one and only open supermarket in the area which happened to be 10-15 minutes walk from our rental.
Our apartment was even better than we expected. We chose to be couple miles away from the city center but it was so worth it. Each room had the incredible sea view and lots of room for the three of us. Initially, we planned to have the 4 days in Malaga as our take it easy destination but as we got closer to the trip, we quickly realized there will be lots to do and see.
There was a bus stop within few minutes walk from the apartment and it took about 5 minutes to get to the city center by bus. We always enjoy our public transportation experiences.
By foot, stroller, and daddy’s shoulders, we finally made it to the top of Gibralfaro Castle. The views were so worth the hike up the hill. We did take a bus going down though.
Family soccer night. Malaga and Celta Vigo Spanish teams played with Malaga’s win 3-0.
On the second day of our Malaga stay we drove to Mijas, one of the white hill towns located 25 miles away from Malaga.
My sweet girl wanted the donkey all to herself 😉
Spanish flan from my must try in Spain desserts list.
Donkey ride through the city was a great experience.
Much needed beach getaway to Playa la Malagueta concluded our second day. There is something about the sky, water, and sand I can never get enough of.
On our third day in Malaga we visited Ronda, one of the largest white hill towns.
We started our Ronda adventure with touring the oldest bullring in Spain. It was our first time to a bullring. Ashley’s interest were the horses in one of the stables attached to the bullring. Now I wonder if that had something to do with her love for horses these days. 🙂
Ronda is also known for its amazing bridges and spectacular views. It is one of those towns you forget about following a map.
I would love to come back here again.
Meal break in Plaza Duquesa de Parcent in the very south of the city.
One of my must visit places in Ronda was the Confiteria Daver recommended by Rick Steves in his guidebook. It took Vitaliy an extra ride through the tiny streets of the city but we did have our snacks for the drive back. 🙂
Sheep stop for Ashley.
Beach ready on our last Malaga evening.
We had a blast playing in the sand, riding the mini zip line (sheep had to ride as well 🙂 ), searching for sea shells, and watching the sunset.
Our next destination was Granada. I will talk about our experiences there when I post next. It has been almost 5 months since our trip but I enjoy writing about it now. It feels all fresh again.
